The Léni Fé Bland Performing Arts Partnership is excited to announce the launch of the 2019-2020 academic year, our fourth grant cycle! We are really looking forward to hearing about your ideas to bring performing arts opportunities to our Santa Barbara Unified students.

Over the past few years we have been overwhelmed by the brilliance and generosity of our arts partners. It is because of you that our students are able to engage in the performing arts in meaningful and long lasting ways. As we look ahead to this next cycle, we are hoping to continue to expand the possibilities, and to grow our audiences.

We are asking arts organizations to consider the age groups that they are hoping to target, and which area of the Common Core Standards might link up with the arts offering. It is strongly recommended to all applicants to vet any grant proposals intended for the K-12 audience within the school day with the SBUnified VAPA coordinator. Kim Hoj, for curricular connections prior to submission of a grant.  Kim can be reached at khoj@sbunified.org.

We are also happy to engage in conversations about how to grow your audience to new age groups. This past year was our first year working in the preschool space, and it was a huge success. It was also our first year partnering with A-OK (after school program). Summer is also a fantastic time to introduce the arts to students—and an area we would be happy to explore with you. The few professional development workshops that we have put together have been well received by teachers, and we would love to fund more opportunities like that next  year.

We are using a new platform for the application this year on Survey Monkey. You will be able to print the application, as well as work on it and come back without losing your work. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LeniFundapplication.

The deadline for the applications is April 20th, 2019. Grant award announcements will be made on May 31st via email, and will be followed up with a snail mail version. As agreed, any organizations that receive funding will be expected to meet with a Santa Barbara Unified School District representative within the month of June, 2019 for planning purposes.
